Legal Aid
For certain types of cases there are number of ways to avoid having to pay in full, up front and in some circumstances you may not need to pay at all.
 
Although legal aid has suffered significant cutbacks in recent years, it is still generally available for everyone for representation at police stations, and on a means-tested basis for trials at magistrates and Crown courts.
 
For civil cases, legal aid is always means tested and it is no longer available at all for some types of case, such as more straightforward personal injury claims.
 
Legal aid is still currently available for Family Law but that may be cut by the current government.

Not every firm offers legal aid, Brennans do and we can also advise you on whether you qualify and apply on your behalf.

Fixed Fees
When clients pay via an hourly rate, they often feel that when they are speaking to their solicitor or asking for work to be done, ‘the clock is constantly ticking’ and that using a solicitor is like ‘jumping off a cliff’ with their cheque book not knowing when they are going to reach the bottom.

Law work can be unpredictable in terms of legal costs, which is why, where possible, we have devised a range of Fixed Fee Services for certain areas of our work. Wherever possible we do not charge per hour, we offer you a guaranteed fixed fee with absolutely no hidden costs.
