 Wills and Probate

Why should you have a will?

Brennans have a specialist Will writing and Probate department to enable you to reduce the worry and heartache at a time of great emotional stress. Making a Will is also the first crucial step in structuring your affairs in order to minimise your liability for Inheritance Tax and possible long-term care planning.

Amazingly, only 30% of the U.K. population have a current Will which accurately reflects their financial circumstances and personal choices at time of death.

Why should you have a will?

Making a Will creates certainty, reduces worry and eliminates the significant problems caused by the lack of clear instructions on how your estate should be dealt with in the event of your death.

If you make a Will, quite simply your Estate will pass to the people named in the Will. If there is no Will then the Rules of Intestacy will apply which essentially means the law decides who gets what. What you may have wished for, or promised while you were alive, will count for nothing.

What other benefits are there to making a Will?

Inheritance Tax Planning

Inheritance Tax Planning can be provided to minimise the inheritance tax payable on your Estate, there are many different options, depending on your own individual circumstances and situation.

Long term care and Power of Attorney Advice

We also offer planning for long term care should you not be able to live in your own home, and look after yourself at any point in your life. If you do need residential care in the future, good planning at the right time could mean you don't have to sell your house to pay for it.

For sound advice on Living Wills, Power of Attorney, Trusts, Estate Administration on behalf of Executors where a will is in place and Estate Administration on behalf of administrators where no Will has been made are all provided.
